Acupuncture and Fibromyalgia

Patients diagnosed with Fibromyalgia Syndrome often experience widespread musculoskeletal pain. Each patient “carries” the diagnosis differently.  Some patients may suffer with severe pain that travels to different areas of the body with no reason as to why.  Some patients suffer from fatigue, stiffness, loss of mobility or function and even mood & sleep disorders.

There is no ONE way to treat Fibromyalgia because each patient presents so differently.  This is where western medicine falls short but where Chinese medicine prevails.  Treatment can include but isn’t limited to: acupuncture, herbal medicines, guided nutrition, IV Therapy and targeted supplementation. Programs are adaptable to each patient's personal experience with the syndrome.

Each patient that comes to 4 Paths is treated as an individual.  There is no one size fits all.

Common complaints with a Fibromyalgia Diagnosis:

  • Chronic pain - this could include stabbing, aching, burning

  • Sensitivity to touch - this could be as simple as a hand on your shoulder, bumping into something and having it hurt for hours

  • Sensitivity to smell - this is often because your body is in a state of “fight or flight” and your senses are heightened

  • Chronic Fatigue - always tired and yet can’t sleep, never feels rested

  • Difficulty concentrating

  • Memory Loss

  • Headaches

  • Digestive disorders

  • Stiffness, loss of range of motion - this can also lead to headaches

  • Circulation issues : cold hands and feet for example

The list goes on and on and that’s why so many patients find that a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia so concerning because it's such a blanket diagnosis.

So what’s the good news?

Yes, there is good news!

Acupuncture and Chinese medicine are so effective at helping patients who suffer from Fibromyalgia because it has the ability to address specific conditions that each individual patient is experiencing.  And it can easily adapt to how the patient is even presenting THAT day when they come in for treatment.

Is it a one and done type deal?  No, unfortunately it’s not.  Like with any type of therapy that has long standing results it’s something you have to lay a foundation with.  What that looks like for each patient is different.  That’s why we need to do a consultation.

A Fibromyalgia consultation will allow our doctor of acupuncture the opportunity to design a program specific to the patient. In most cases, we can even get started the same day!

Call us today to set up a consultation and find out if acupuncture is a good fit for you.

Cory is the absolute best! After multiple treatments, he fixed my knee problems. He’s my go to guy if my back is giving me any problems at all and I always walk out feeling way better than when I walk in. He genuinely cares for his patients and alway does what is best for your long term health! I can’t recommend him enough!” -Matt P

“I have osteoarthritis in both knees with the right being worse than the left. Had my right knee scoped and did well for a few months. Was looking at having knee replacement and decided to try acupuncture and it has been great. Pain free,am able to run on the treadmill and my doctor is pleased with how I’m doing. Cory is great and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an alternative form of treatment.” -Julie G
