How Acupuncture can help with Neuropathy or Nerve Pain

Updated: Mar 23, 2023

Acupuncture & Neuropathy

What causes neuropathy?

Neuropathy is often caused by diabetes but can also occur due to other reasons such as injury or genetics. In some cases the cause is unknown.

Your doctor may recommend medications such as Gabepentin or Lyrica but these often provide limited relief.

Common Causes:

• Diabetes

• B12 Deficiency

• Chemotherapy

• Kidney Disease

• Toxins or Infections

• Post surgical trauma

THREE things to know when determining treatment:

1. What is the underlying cause?

2. How much nerve damage has been sustained?

3. How much treatment will be required?

FOUR goals of treatment:

1. Increase blood flow

2. Stimulate nerve fibers

3. Decrease brain pain

4. Enhance quality of life!

What to Expect?

We will provide a neurological and vascular exam to determine the extent of injury to the nerves.

Then, we will develop a COMPREHENSIVE treatment plan CUSTOMIZED to YOUR neuropathy symptoms. Your program will be based on the length of time you've had symptoms and the degree of sensory loss you're experiencing. (Please note, we cannot accept patients with greater than 85% sensory loss.)

The procedures are quick and painless, you're in and out of the office in 30 minutes.
